New Construction
Construction has begun on several projects at the animal shelter including a large covered outside kennel area, a large fenced play yard for the adoptable dogs/puppies, a community dog park (Kennels and Dog Park layout), a Memorial Garden (Memorial Garden layout), fencing to separate isolation dogs/puppies from adoptable dogs/puppies area, and asphalt paving to be applied behind and next to the building. These projects were made possible as a result of a generous direct donation from John and Joyce Webb and a grant from Archuleta County Parks, Recreation, Openspace & Trails, and should be completed before the end of November 2010. Check out photos of the new construction.

The Humane Society's 16th Auction for the Animals, held Friday, August 27th, was a fun night out on the town for all who attended. With over 300 people in attendance, the successful bidding on the wonderful Live, Silent, and Brown Bag Auction items, and $7,200 in financial sponsorships, the Humane Society raised nearly $36,000 after expenses.
These funds will be used to offset operating costs of the animal shelter which houses the lost, homeless, abandoned, and owner surrendered dogs and cats of Pagosa Springs and Archuleta Country and to ensure the ongoing efforts to keep these animals off the streets and in a safe place.
We sincerely hope that all who attended had a wonderful time and went home with some great auction items! Please make a note to mark your 2011 calendars for next year's event on Friday, August 26, 2011.
